Time to knit: we start by learning how to knit stitches. We are knitting using the US / UK method. This means we are holding the yarn in our right hand and wrap it around the needle with our right hand...
The video above can be used in the following patterns

Sorry, I was born in Portugal and we wrap the yarn around our neck and hold the yarn in the left hand. So much faster no tension to worry about. I no longer use my neck for controlling tension. But I find that my knitting is not as fast.

I'm always happy to learn new things. That's why I try to learn English way of knitting. But I have to say I can't not to see any advantages of this way of knitting. It is much slower more tiring and very awkward. I never completed any project working this way.

Vielen Dank!

I knit holding the yarn in the right hand as shown but this video does make it look very awkward and slow. I was taught to hold the right hand needle under my arm with the yarn tensioned by wrapping around the little finger, under the middle two and over the first finger. This way it is possible to knit very quickly.

I never stop being surpriced about this knitting method. Why would anyone want to do it this way? It is so much more work and completely illogical.

I am 71 years old and learned knitting from my grandma this way. I have always wondered why everybody in germany holds the yarn with the left hand and I had it on my right hand. I never managed to change that. And of course I am much slower that everybody else.....:-)
