In this clue we are working 7 new rows – and we hope you’ll enjoy them, because when we are done with them, we only have one clue left!
As usual, you will find videos to assist you at the end of the clue. But if you still have questions, leave them in the form at the bottom of the page!
STRIPES:
Cut thread after each row, unless the next row has the same colour. Fasten the threads in the side when you have finished.
ROW 48: jeans blue (color i)
ROW 49: bordeaux (color j)
ROW 50: jeans blue (color i)
ROWS 51-54: powder (color a)
PATTERN:
We are following diagram A.6a, A.6b, A.7a and A.7b in this clue. Diagram A.6a and A.7a shows how row begins. NOTE: The beginning of rows is drawn above each other in the same diagram even though they are worked alternately the right and left side of the shawl and not above each other.
COLOR CHANGE:
When switching colours, work as follows: Work last stitch on row with the first color, but wait with last yarn over and pull through, switch to next color and work the last yarn over and pull through on the last stitch with this color, then work next row.
If you are experienced, you can follow the diagram under, but if you want more help, see below for a more detailed description with pictures and diagrams marked in red.
Rows 48-49-53 and 54 will all be worked from the right side. Begin row 49 with 1 slip stitch in the 2nd chain stitch from previous row and begin row 54 with 1 slip stitch into the 4th chain stitch from previous row.

Here’s a more detailed description of how to start with Clue #8. We have marked where we are working in the diagrams with red.
Work row 48 in A.6a and A.6b from the right side, cut the thread and work row 49 from the right side, so both row 48 and 49 are worked from the right side. Begin row 49 with 1 slip stitch into the 2nd chain stitch from previous row. There are 68 fans on row (= 34 repeats of A.6b) on row when row 49 has been worked. The piece measures approx. 27 1/2 “ between the first chain stitch space and the middle of the last row worked.
Now work A.7b (A.7a shows how every row begins and are worked in addition to A.7b).
Work ROW 50 from the wrong side as follows: Fold row 49 (row with bordeaux fans - color j) so the right side touches the right side and work around row 48 (jeans blue row– color i) from the back side of the shawl as follows: (4 chain stitches, 1 single crochet around the first/next half double crochet) work like this along the shawl and end with 1 single crochet around the last half double crochet on row = 136 chain stitch spaces. Read COLOR CHANGE!
Work row 51 as follows:
Arrow 13 (row 51): Increase 2 stitches (= 1 chain stitch + 1 double crochet) around the 2 chain stitch spaces before each marking thread and increase 2 stitches (= 1 chain stitch+ 1 double crochet) around each of the 2 chain stitch spaces after each marking thread (= 48 chain stitch spaces increased) = 252 chain stitches + 252 double crochets on row.
Cut thread when rows 52 and 53 have been worked and row 54 are worked from the right side, so both rows 53 and 54 are worked from the right side. Begin row 54 with 1 slip stitch into the 4th chain stitch from previous row.
Clue #8 is now finished and the piece measures approx. 29” between the first chain stitch space and the middle of the last row worked, when all 54 rows have been worked. You can see how the rows of clue #8 looks like in the photo below.
Now you can look forward to the very last clue – it’s coming next week. And don’t forget to send pictures of your progress to our Gallery!
